Fire Hydrant

Posted in Uncategorized by Jacob on February 27, 2011

Here is a series of pictures I took of this cool fire hydrant.

This picture is to highlight the actual color of the main piece. I took the color out from around the fire hydrant so that the hydrant could really stick out. The combination of yellow, red, blue, and green give the hydrant a sort of personality/character.

I wanted to get up close and see some of the wear and tear in the hydrant. It really has gone through some tough years it looks like. The wear and tear just makes the hydrant more unique.

The lighting in this is really good. I wanted to concentrate on a small part of the overall piece. Even in this small section of the hydrant you can see character. The combination of yellow and red is great. The blue in the background also seems to complement the chain.

Hope you enjoy!

Thank you SJ, you have some interesting stuff too. I like the soft feel in most of your pictures. I also like the old feel some of your pictures have. It seems as though you are capturing moments in time and giving them your own unique visual style.

Thanks for the lovely words Jacob. I am definitely big on nostalgia and photography that gets people reflecting on a time/place/etc away from the daily grind.

Looking fwd to seeing more of your work.

Hi there! Nice photographs, I really like the selective desaturation of the first image causing the odly colored hydrant to jump out. I think these photos came out really well. Thanks for sharing,

It is cool how separating curtain colors can make other colors really stick out. It seems you do some of that yourself. I am glad you like the photos. Very cool that you have photo’s from a brad range of places. Keep enjoying your travels Nate, you are encountering some very beautiful landscapes.
